Videshi In 50, Takkar In 25 And Thoka For 10 Thousand Only

What do you want, sir? It is Delhi. You can get ‘Videshi’ as well ‘Thoka’ here without any fuss. We make supply as per demand.

This is not a dialogue of a Hindi film. Instead, it is a statement given in police custody by Kasamu, a well known name in the criminal world. Kasamu has been supplying arms of foreign make in Delhi for the past many years and he has been nabbed by Delhi Police recently. Question arises as to why Delhi is becoming a hub of hardcore criminals. Also, why there is uncontrolled supply of arms in Delhi?

Alive correspondent investigated this matter and discovered several interesting things. Investigation also revealed that free availability of illegal arms is the main reason of ever escalating crime graph in the capital.

Shedding light on the problem of uninterrupted supply of illegal arms, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik says that serious crimes like murder, robbery and kidnapping for ransom have grown alarmingly in Delhi and NCR during the last 5-7 years. And the prime reason behind this  shocking spur in crimes is easy availability of high quality arms in Delhi.

Till 15 May 2017, Delhi Police has recovered 371 arms including pistols, revolvers and guns. In the past five and-a-half years, police recovered a total of 3733 pistols, revolvers and guns. Recovery of arms in such a huge number makes one wonder about the scale illegal arms are being manufactured and marketed in Delhi alone.

Nabbing of arms dealers and recovery of arms dealers in recent time proves that Delhi has become a favourite transit route for arms smugglers. This situation raises a serious question: What makes the capital so important that arms smugglers find it an easy transit route in their illegal trade despite an always alert police?
