Indian Cricketers Glowing Home Turf Performances In Season For Tests!

In a rare season of abounding Test cricket, the Indian cricketers forged a few new paths under the enterprise of captain Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble. With facile wins against most opposition teams of varying caliber, when pushed to the brink on their home turf, team India responded brilliantly to ensure their record at home stayed virtually impeccable.

At the start of India’s home cricket season of 2016-2017, there was a great deal of excitement, anticipation as well as trepidation about the prospect of team India facing a mammoth work load comprising thirteen Tests. For Virat Kohli and his men, the mission was clear. Two series, in particular, stood out: the need to right the wrongs against England on their home turf after their previous surrender and pushing back the resurgence of the Australian team with whom they were in the bid for the title of the world’s no. 1 ranked Test team. Scripted almost neatly to perfection, India built their way towards robust results against England and Australia interspersed by successful missions against the visiting teams from New Zealand and Bangladesh.

It is quite commendable that at the end of the thirteen Test season, the performances of many of the Indian players is quite glowing, particularly when one considers the fact that it was not a season without its testing moments. Even at the end, when India were pushed, losing the first Test against Australia by 333 runs, they rallied back strongly to stage a 2-1 series comeback that will now go into the history books. In that light, the consistency and brilliance of their performances are almost fulsome as they are impressive.

Here are some of the finest moments of the finest players who made up the Indian cricket team in the season gone by:
