Halloween is no longer just for children, as pet owners across the globe have decided to use the holiday as an opportunity to uniquely dress up their furry friends.

With the start of fall and Halloween just about a month away, it seems as if the spookiness is in the air. Normally freaking out over anything paranormal or ghostly, people are now dressing up as haunted ghosts for a new trend on social media. Called the Ghost Photoshoot, youngsters are covering themselves up in a plain white bedsheet and posing as the typical spooky ghost we usually see in cartoons. Pictures of the trend have been shared widely on Twitter and Instagram as well. Some pet parents even went ahead and tried it on their pets too. The result of course is adorably funny.

With some opting for classic costumes such as ghosts others have taken a more unique approach to their outfits, with one dressing their dog up as painter Bob Ross, while another made their cat the Pope pumpkins, food, other animals and even superheroes for the day. Thanks to traditional pet supply stores like Petco, as well as Amazon and Etsy, who have made the costume choices limitless while customizing the occasion as a big business.

The Tompkins Square Halloween dog parade in New York is one of this kind and features hundreds of dogs in elaborate costumes with props. It is one of the few places on Earth where you can see dogs dressed up as wizarding students riding the Hogwarts Express, a dog driving the time-traveling DeLorean from Back to the Future, pooches lining up as the famously flamboyant rock band Kiss or, thanks to a couple of prosthetics, appearing as the three-headed dog Cerberus.
