RAID DE HIMALAYA

The king of motorsport rallies in India, the Raid de Himalaya features rugged mountainous roads, sub-zero temperatures, river crossings, dust storms and blizzards. Considering the number of people who fail to finish the race or get injured in their attempt, it is a sort of a gladiatorial combat between drivers. The extreme category of this race is a prolonged endurance test for both the driver and the car. Every year, the best drivers across the country participate in this rally which is held between the altitudes of 10000 feet to 17000 feet. Only 30 per cent of the drivers are able to finish the event. Veteran participants call this event an addiction as it involves a union of man and machine to tackle the elements of nature.

THE GREAT ESCAPE

This rally is for the off-roading enthusiasts who want to test their skills on dirt paths. Organised by Mahindra, the Great Escape is basically an event where a bunch of SUV’s rough it out on a muddy and slushy terrain while trying to keep themselves from flipping over. A vehicle with a 4*4 drivetrain is a must for participants. The organisers are kind enough to arrange a circuit that features steep descents, boulder crossings and river crossings.
