Hungarian born Peter Molnar knows resilience. Exclusively for FLEX, he shares his tumultuous rags-to-riches rise to Bodybuilding stardom.
WHEN PETER WAS A young boy, his mother was forced to split from his father due to the devastating effects of alcoholism. The brave move left the pair with very little money and a very meagre start to their new lives together.
“I was that child who only ever had one pair of shoes,” Peter reflects. “If it was my birthday, I would get a new pair and I had to make them last until the following year. I didn’t even have a pair of training shoes. At school, this caused peer pressure. The other kids used to flaunt their expensive branded clothing and mock me. I just had to walk away and tried not to listen.
“Although Mum couldn’t give me much money, she gave me love and that is what has helped me to understand the importance of love in everything I do to this day.”
Peter knew that if he allowed anger to drive him, he would grow into a future that wouldn’t have room for happiness. He also knew that if you do something with your heart, you will be successful. Peter vowed that one-day passion would give him success, because he would love what he chose to do with his life.
“I was given an opportunity to be very rich and successful,” recalls Peter. “My friend started a very good business which made a lot of money and he wanted my help, but I felt that if I worked in an office, it would kill me inside.”
