Last month, I told you about why I stopped running for three months, giving up my professional running career. This month, as the memories are still fresh, I thought I would talk about how hard running can be.

No, duh! Of course running is hard, you are thinking, and yes, it is widely accepted that running is indeed difficult, which is why not everyone does it. We are crazy runners after all, but I am talking about beyond that, just how hard it can be, especially when you are starting from scratch, which actually helps to explain why those who don’t run cannot wrap their brain around why we would ever WANT to do this.

We know that running never really gets “easy” as such. You always have to put yourself in a state of discomfort, you will always feel like stopping sometimes, and only on rare occasions will you actually be thinking about how fun it is during the moment.
