With the cyclocross season fast approaching it’s timely that Canyon have launched their new award winning full carbon cyclocross bike the Inite CF SLX
CANYON INFLITE CF SLX
FROM £2,499 canyon.com
Canyon bicycles was formed in 2003, in Koblenz Germany, with the owners selling bike parts out of a trailer. Today, the company sells bikes direct to consumers all over the world, gaining a reputation for innovation and quality. It is perhaps appropriate then that the chosen launch location for the new model was at the UK playground of another of Germany’s leading innovators, Mercedes Benz world, at the Brook lands race circuit.
The award-winning Inflite
With a sound track of V12 engines from the race circuit and in front of a room full of journalists, Julain Biefang, Canyon’s product manager, professional cyclist and creator of the Inflite, presented Canyon’s latest bike.
The CF SLX design is a marriage of cyclocross function and mountain bike geometry. While the purists may think it looks like Quasimodo, on closer inspection there is in fact a prince underneath the appearance but can it be the cyclo cross king!
The unique design has won the Red Dot Best of the Best award, and has been developed to meet the core elements of cyclocross racing:
Geometry or Design?
The use of carbon fibre allowed the engineers to develop a strong light frame and adjust the geometry to optimise the space between the top and bottom tubes, enabling the rider to secure the bike comfortably on the shoulder. This mountain bike-inspired geometry, coupled with the Ergocockpit integrated short stem, provides better control at speed while maintaining agility for when things get technical.
