THE AUDI Q7 with its glorious 2020 facelift has been a long time coming to India. But it’s here now with its heavy baggage — that of being one of the first widely accepted luxury SUVs in India. This one’s merely a facelift, but the subtleties cannot be ignored when you dive into the specifics. Audi loyalists will find their thirst for novelty mildly quenched, quite unlike the bevy of surprises you expect after waiting for countless months. Yet, it does level up with its Mercedes and BMW counterparts.

EXTERIOR PERSONALITY

PERSONALITY-WISE, the Q7 appears to be more domineering than its predecessors and a fair share of that credit should be given to the brand-new octagonal grille that is large and elegantly decks up the front façade of the car. Flanking it on either side are the matrix LED headlamps that dynamically light up, creating a rather interesting visual show. The horizontal slats are promptly replaced by vertical ones, while the 19-inch wheels do a fine job in filling the wheel arches snugly. What’s wonderful about the exterior design of the Audi Q7 is that it doesn’t look like it’s trying too hard. You can choose to stylise it further with a footboard or sills, but in stock, the only thing the sides show off is the cool new Quattro badge. The rear is clean too, highlighted mainly by the dynamic LED tail-lamps that put out a show every time the car is being locked and unlocked. The SUV sits comfortably between sporty and luxurious when it comes to design, an attribute that seems to carry through to the inside as well.
