Kim Jones drops a futuristic menswear offering with Dior Men’s first pre-autumn collection designed in collaboration with contemporary Japanese artist, Hajime Sorayama.
She’s lost in the music. Hands by her waist and dancing in the laser lights. She’s gorgeous, but she doesn’t know it. Head down. Blue eyes. A steely gaze. Diplo’s on the decks and the crowd pulsates with every beat. Are we human or are we dancer?
Just when you thought Kim Jones had hit it out of the park with his debut spring/summer 2019 menswear collection for Dior, he goes and holds a pre-autumn men’s show in Tokyo that takes things to whole new level. Literally. For his summer runway show in Paris, he commissioned American artist Kaws to build a 10m BFF centrepiece out of 70,000 real roses. But for his second outing—also the maison’s first pre-autumn menswear collection— he engaged Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama to construct a 12m high female robot out of polished aluminium. Ridiculous. As in, ridiculously awesome.
And the after-party? Three words— Off. The. Charts.
