St Mary's Launch Original School App
A LOCAL grammar school are celebrating an exciting new development in communications after becoming the first school in Magherafelt to launch an original school-app.
For St Mary’s Grammar School, this encouraging new app aims to deliver a variety of communications in real time, keeping parents and the wider community updated with current news and events.
Regarding this exciting development, creator of the app, Miss Aisling Hagan said: “Our motivation was the idea that we are trying to improve and develop levels of communication, in order to make it more instant and interactive.”
She said: “With advances in technology, everything nowadays is more app based than website based so we kept this in mind when looking for new ways to reach out to parents.”
With over 95% of the population now using smartphones, Miss Hagan stresses how the school wishes to utilise this channel of communication to reach people who increasingly expect to have services provided from their phone.
Miss Hagan said: “With any school, you always try to be at the fore of innovation and more commonly, people are online rather than offline, so in a world of instant, we wanted to create an instant way of reaching out.”
Back in December, the school celebrated their 90th anniversary with a mass of thanksgiving which was attended by many past and present members of staff and pupils.
