Chris Murphy’s continued legal challenge against A6 upgrade
AS part of his ongoing legal campaign against the upgrade of the A6 dualling scheme, environmentalist, Chris Murphy, recently held an event on the shores of the Lough Beg to mark World Wetlands Day.
In September last year, Murphy failed in a fresh bid to stop the new £160 million dual carriageway between Castledawson and Toome, which is set to run through wetlands where several species of migratory birds, including the Whooper Sawn, nest.
Mr Murphy has now taken the matter to the Supreme Court in London.
However in a bid to gain local support, Mr Murphy held an art workshop at The Thatch Inn, Castledawson which was followed by a reading of Seamus Heaney’s poetry on the shoreline of Lough Beg on Saturday, February 3.
