Kannada filmstars join the political battle for the upcoming assembly polls
With political parties roping in cine stars and cel ebrity contestants for the assembly polls, expected in May 2018, new political battle lines are being drawn in the Kannada film industry.
Unlike the other southern states, Kannada film actors have till now sta yed largely aloof from electoral politics. But that’s set to change with an unprecedented number of actors out to test their fortunes this time. And every party—the ruling Congress, BJP and Janata Dal (Secular)—is hoping to make collateral gains from their popularity.
