The aim at SGT University is to help students become well-rounded individuals who can think critically about issues from multiple perspectives, communicate effectively and become leaders with a commitment to public service. SGT University education carries a strong emphasis on foundational knowledge, thorough academic research based on rigorous pedagogy, and hands-on experience with real-world challenges. 7000 students on campus, from 170+ courses across 17 different faculties, drawn from over 22 states and 100 cities in India receive a world-class interdisciplinary education through undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes led by renowned faculty.
Writing, communication and critical thinking are the cornerstones of SGT University’s academic culture. All students who graduate from SGTU are expected to acquire superior skills in organizing their thoughts both orally and in writing; indeed, students are discouraged from rote learning and, instead, critically engage and reshape concepts through questioning and writing. The platform for these skills is provided by SGTU’s unique multi-semester Critical Thinking sequence. In each of their semesters, our students take a Critical Thinking seminars distinguished by small class size, close faculty attention to students’ writing, communication and thinking processes, and individualized tutoring at SGTU’s Centre for Writing and Communication called EngWings.
