FULHAM boss Slavisa Jokanoviccalled for his team to be moreclinical as they survived a nervy finish to see off Birmingham at Craven Cottage.
Sheyi Ojo scored the only goal of the game early on, and Jeremie Boga missed a late penalty as Birmingham passed up the chance to escape the relegation zone.
The win lifts Fulham closer to the top six while Birmingham remain languishing in the bottom three having collected just two points on the road all season.
Jokanovic believes his team must kill off games if they are to continue moving up the table.
He said: “We can play better than we did today. The only solution my team knows is to score a second goal. We must be more forceful, more clinical and show more quality in this situation.
“We can pay an expensive price after one mistake, but they missed a penalty and we avoided this situation.
“The solution is to score more goals, I don’t know any other way. You want to attack, to score more goals.”
