STEADY as she goes. FA Cupspecialist Jon Stead keptLeague Two club Notts County in the competition with dreams of glory intact.
Stead, 34, has had special moments before, scoring for Bradford City in their stunning 4-2 FA Cup win at Chelsea three years ago.
Jose Mourinho said Stead had “big balls” for his performance that day, and current Notts boss Kevin Nolan said the same thing, though in a more diplomatic way, after Stead had scored his 62nd-minute equaliser.
“What did Jose say? He was right,” says Nolan.
Stead has scored in all four of Notts’ FA Cup ties this season, including the winner that knocked out Championship side Brentford.
Since the turn of the year he has got six in six league and cup games.
