Gulls fans tuning into club streams to watch their side have certainly been getting their money’s worth with late drama in each of their first three wins.

On Tuesday night, Asa Hall hit a 94th-minute winner against Chesterfield. It follows Danny Wright’s 93rd-minute penalty that took all three points from Bromley and Connor Lemonheigh-Evans’ 91st-minute breakthrough on the opening day against Stockport County.

It’s made for a good start for Johnson – who has won promotion from this division with Yeovil Town and Cheltenham Town – despite the supporters being locked out of National League games.

And he says the players have their fans firmly in their minds when they’re on the pitch – even if they’ve had to lend their voices to Johnson’s post-match tradition.

“We got a little bit used to it during lockdown because we watched the Premier League games and the German games with no crowds so it wasn’t a total shock to the system,” Johnson told The NLP.
