Victory saw Gary Waddock’s men move back up to second in the National League table in a week where their cash-strapped hosts saw three key players depart Victoria Park to all but surrender their title challenge.

“It’s a difficult place to come to get a result, so to get a clean sheet, score two goals, and collect three points is always pleasing,” Waddock said.

“We felt it would be crucial to get the first one because of the current situation Dagenham are in with their run of form and off field problems as well. I thought we managed the game well.”
