THREE-TIME FA Vase winner and north-east legend Lee Kerr has brought an end to trophy-laden career.
The 33-year-old represented the likes of Seaham Red Star, Shildon and Hebburn Town during his 17-year career in the Northern League – but it was his time with Whitley Bay where he will be most remembered.
After joining the Seahorses in 2003, Kerr’s form at Hillheads led to an offer of a trial at Newcastle United and he spent time training alongside the likes of Nolberto Solano and Michael Owen during Glenn Roeder’s managerial stint at St James Park.
He returned to Whitley Bay to help the club to a Northern League title in 2007 and also claimed two Northumberland Senior Cup winners’ medals – but the FA Vase provided him with the most memorable moments of his career.
