A NATION gripped with hope means more than 39 million people are expected to watch England take on Ukraine tonight.
It’s estimated Britons will splurge £150million in pubs, bars and restaurants while cheering on the Three Lions in their Euro 2020 quarter-final clash.
And those taking shelter at home with friends are expected to stock up on £350million worth of foods, drinks and match-day snacks before the 8pm kick-off.
Weather forecasters reckon fans will have to be inside for the game – with much of the day in many places featuring heavy rain, storms and even hail!
A Met Office forecaster said: “An area of heavy rain and some thunderstorms is expected to develop on Saturday morning over southern England and then move north-eastwards.
“Many places will see a short period of heavy rain whilst some may see a more prolonged period along with some intense bursts, with lightning and hail.
Favourites
“Under the heavier rain some sites could see one to one-and-a-half inches falling in a few hours.”
The downpours are expected to do little to dampen the spirits of the nation ahead of the game in Rome’s Stadio Olimpico – where the mercury is set to reach a sweltering 91F (32C).
