Exploring the mind of a character with dementia was at times disturbing and frightening – and made me want to do anything I could to help.

What struck me most about this heart-breaking story, was the vital role family relationships play when disaster hits.

Audiences found it exceptionally moving.

Night after night people would wait at the Stage Door to tell me their stories. Many said that since caring for or losing a loved one with dementia, watching this play was the first time they no longer felt alone.

I am haunted by the devastation dementia causes and the dreadful state of dementia care in this country.

Its exposure by the pandemic has been terrible to witness, with headlines continually showing how sufferers and those around them have been hit the hardest.
