Liz Truss will today prove that she is a "woman of action" - by delivering lower energy bills for everybody.
Just 48 hours after becoming Prime Minister, she will set the course of her premiership by tackling Britain's cost-of-living crisis head on.
She promises to get the country growing again by unveiling a rescue package of support estimated to cost up to £150billion.
But as Ms Truss yesterday got straight down to work, she rejected Labour's demands to fund it with a windfall tax on energy firms' excess profits.
She vowed: "I'll deliver lower energy bills and get Britain back on track rather than play political games like Labour." The PM told the Daily Express she was a "woman of action" who is focused on delivering for the country.
The bailout has been tipped to total between £100billion and £150billion but it is likely to fluctuate depending on energy prices.
Ms Truss is expected to announce that green energy levies added to bills are being suspended, to help save around £150 per household.
That comes on top of plans for a price cap for typical bills of a maximum £2,500.
Once the £400 being taken off energy bills from next month comes into play, it effectively freezes the price cap.
In a Commons debate today, Ms Truss will set out immediate help to tackle soaring energy bills.
But she will also detail long-term solutions to ensure that the country is not plunged into another crisis.
The new PM intends to solve problems of energy supplies by reversing the ban the ban on fracking among her potential options.
Ms Truss admitted: “I know families and businesses across the country are worried about how they are going to make ends meet this autumn and winter.”
