Labour MPs And Whip Join Pickets... But Where's Keir?

Sir Keir Starmer refused to condemn walkouts but privately urged senior MPs to stay away.

The position found him under fire from his own party.

Deputy leader Angela Rayner said: “No one takes strike action lightly. I will always defend their absolute right to do so for fairness at work.”

Richard Burgon, a shadow cabinet minister under Jeremy Corbyn, said Sir Keir was wrong and joining the picket line was the “right thing to do” for MPs.

Sir Keir is under pressure to sack frontbenchers who did.
