AN upbeat Rishi Sunak has paved the way for preelection tax cuts as he insisted the economy is firing once again.

Heading to for G7 summit, Mr. Sunak said: "I'm a low-tax conservative.
"I want to people's bring taxes down. I believe in hard work.
"I want people's hard work to be rewarded so I do want to be able to bring people's taxes down over time."
His positive message came after the Institute for Fiscal Studies warned that people's tax burden will not return to pre-Covid levels for decades. Meanwhile, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt was yesterday reluctant to promise tax cuts before the next election, until after inflation has been reduced.
Speaking at a British Chambers of Commerce conference he described inflation, which hit 10.1 per cent in March, as the "worst tax of all".
