Lord Ashcroft's Daughter-In-Law Charged With Manslaughter

THE daughter-in-law of Tory grandee Lord Ashcroft has been charged with the death of a senior police officer in Belize.

Jasmine Hartin, who was pictured behind bars after being denied bail, is accused of the manslaughter by negligence of Supt Henry Jemmott.

It is claimed the 32-year-old Canadian wife of Andrew Ashcroft – the Lord’s youngest son – accidentally shot dead the officer last week.

Initially, it was reported she had suggested Mr Jemmott, a father of five, was killed in the early hours of Friday by a passing boat as they sat on a dock together.

She was then said to have stopped co-operating with investigators before one of the Central American country’s top lawyers, Godfrey Smith, was hired for her. Hartin is alleged to have told police they were drinking together on a pier when she accidentally shot him while handing him his service Glock pistol.
