Wales starlet Ethan was still a schoolboy worrying about his exams during the last Euros... now he’s ready to teach opponents a lesson

Five years ago Ethan Ampadu was doing his GCSEs – now the Wales ace is preparing for his biggest test yet.

The Chelsea youngster has played 22 times for Wales, making his international debut in 2017.

He got his first taste of preparing for a tournament in 2016 when he trained with Wales’ senior squad.

The 20-year-old defender was just a teenager then as he juggled exams at school with playing for Exeter City, but insists his tests turned out “pretty well” – as did Wales’ first-ever trip to the Euros when they reached the last four.

Now Ampadu is an established international and is delighted to have swapped books for boots at this year’s rescheduled tournament.
