BRITAIN is set for almost a month of snow and ice chaos – with -12C freezes sweeping in for the new year.

A big chill is due to hit the UK next month, with a bitter February threatening.

It come after much of the country had a balmy Christmas, with temperatures above normal for the time of year.

The Met Office forecasts shivers arriving in January following a waft of warm air which will bring 15C highs up to New Year’s Eve.

From January 1, up to 25 more days of cold weather disruption are forecast for the North, with up to 15 days in the South, The Weather Company predicts.

Weather maps show cold air hitting Britain in the next few weeks.

Travel bosses are braced for breakdown and accident chaos on snow and icy roads.
