The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, on Friday said it carried out over 80,935 additional COVID-19 tests in the country over the last 24 hours, using the latest testing methods.
The Ministry said in a statement that the intense testing drive uncovered 612 new cases of various nationalities, who are all in a stable condition and receiving the necessary medical treatment. This brings the total number of official cases recorded in the UAE to 72,766.
It also announced the recovery of an additional 490 individuals from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 63,158.
MoHAP said no new deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Separately, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on governments to incorporate “meaningful” climate action in all aspects of recovery from the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing ministers at a virtual meeting on sustainable recovery from COVID-19 on Thursday, the UN chief said that the world is confronting two urgent crises: COVID-19 and climate change. “Let us tackle both and leave future generations with the hope that this moment is a true turning point for people and planet,” he said, in a video message.
