Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, his wife Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank, launched ‘10 million meals’ campaign, the nation’s biggest food distribution drive, to support low-income families and individuals affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak across the UAE.
The UAE Health Ministry announced 479 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 6,781.
The ministry announced the death of four individuals as a result of the virus, noting one of the deceased was a Gulf national, while the three others were Asian nationals. The total number of deaths resulting from the pandemic has reached 41.
The Ministry also announced the full recovery of 93 new cases after receiving the necessary treatment, taking to 1,188 the total of those now recovered from the virus in the UAE.
More than 2.33 million people have been reported to be infected by the coronavirus globally and over 160,000 have died.
Europe is the worst-hit continent with a total of 100,501 fatalities out of 1,136,672 cases.
