James Wade has won more major trophies than almost all his rivals but claims he is not fashionable enough to be a favoured superstar.

The Machine remains arguably the best player never to win the William Hill PDC World Championship and, of the current field, only Michael van Gerwen has won more TV titles.

But the No.4 seed, who faces quickfire Vincent van der Voort in the third round tonight, refuses to present a false image for the cameras because that's not who I am.

Wade, whose majors span 14 years (with this year's Ladbrokes UK Open trophy, above), said: “This year, whatever my seeding says, if I turn up for the next week, I could win it - but if I don't, I'll be on my way home.
