PEOPLE in Ireland who suffer heart attacks and other coronary conditions like chest pains may be reluctant to call for an ambulance for assistance despite clear benefits of their use, research has suggested.

A study by two Cork hospitals concluded ambulance services are underutilised by people with acute coronary syndrome as only 27% of patients used them to get to hospital.
