Garda's New €87M HQ Is ‘Too Small'

A NEW €87million Garda command centre currently under construction will be too small when it’s completed, says a damning Dail report.

The complex at Military Road in Dublin was designed to cater for staff numbers that are now out of date, and is also expected to go €7million over budget.

According to the scathing report by the Dail’s Public Accounts Committee, a failure to review the scheme resulted in a project that is “not fit for purpose”.

The PAC, which aims to ensure value for money for taxpayers, has accused the Office of Public Works responsible for the development, of “poor management”.
