Lee Grace has warned Waterford that Shamrock Rovers are hell-bent on rewriting history today.
The champions will set a new League of Ireland all-time record of 31 league games unbeaten if they avoid defeat at home to Kevin Sheedy’s struggling Blues.
The current record of 30games was set by the Hoops themselves back in 1927 but the new generation has the chance to pull clear today.
“It’s massive,” said centreback Grace. “The gaffer has been saying a team might never get the chance to do this again.
“It would be a shame to give it away because we’re so close. We’re going to give everything we can to get points on the board and that will be enough.”
Just as it was with that Rovers side of the mid-to-late 1920s, this run of unbeaten games flowed across three seasons.
