A top hair salon has already received €20,000 in deposits from clients who are desperate to get their hair done.
Stylists have become inundated with requests since the Government announced the reopening of the service on July 20th –- phase four of the Covid-19 exit roadmap.
But the Hairdressers Federation of Ireland is lobbying to reopen in phase three on June 29.
Onagh O’Driscoll, managing director of Platinum Hair Extensions, said she has nearly 400 people on a waiting list.
She added: “A couple of weeks ago when Covid started initially we had to reschedule about 100 clients so we automatically had those people on a waiting list for when we did reopen.
“And then it got to the stage that we were getting 500 messages a day from people trying to book in so we put together a waiting list and people had to pay €50 deposit to secure their place on the list.
“It was first come, first serve. We got 398 people on the list and that was before the Government made the announcement it’d be July 20 before we reopen.
“After the announcement we got 300 people wanting to get added to the list and that would have brought it up to 700 but we couldn’t, we would have been booked out for months.”
