NEARLY 30% of female students have been sexually assaulted – including 1,000 rapes – a national survey reveals today.

A total of 29% of females, 28% of non-binary students and 10% of males were attacked.

The victims were incapacitated, forced into the act or threatened.

Meanwhile, 56% of students with a disability reported an experience of sexual misconduct compared with 42% of other students.

Results from the Sexual Experiences Survey, conducted by NUI Galway’s Active Consent Programme in partnership with the Union of Students in Ireland, are being launched today.
