HUNDREDS of thousands of young people will be offered a Covid-19 jab two months earlier than expected.
Chemists have been bombarded with calls after Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said those aged 18 to 34 could get the one shot J&J vaccine from Monday.
He added it “is a huge benefit in the face of this Delta surge”. Ireland is also set to buy one million Pfizer and Moderna jabs from the Romanian government.

IRELAND got a major vaccine boost yesterday as it was revealed we are set to buy one million Pfizer and Moderna jabs from the Romanian government.
It came hours after Stephen Donnelly announced hundreds of thousands of young people could be protected two months earlier than expected.
Chemists have been bombarded with phone calls after the Health Minister said from Monday, people aged 18 to 34 can register with a participating pharmacist listed on the HSE website and get a single-shot Johnson & Johnson jab.
And on Monday week, the online portal will open for the same age group who want to opt in to receive an AstraZeneca vaccine.
However, they will also have the option to wait and receive either a Pfizer or Moderna.
The decision follows the updated advice from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee who have said younger people can be given the option to take one of these two vaccines or wait for a Pfizer and Moderna shot.
