BOLSHOI Ballet is only a marginal selection for the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown this afternoon.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt faces by far his stiffest test to date with last season’s Group1-winning juvenile Mac Swiney in the lineup.
Mac Swiney is the top-rated runner in the field and with his yard in flying form he is going to take a lot of beating.
However, a chance is taken on Bolshoi Ballet as he has the advantage of a previous run this season.
That outing came over this course and distance last month when the Galileo colt ran out a clear-cut winner of the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes.
