Ryan’s brother reveals late radio star’s ‘connection’ with Haughey

GERRY Ryan’s brother has spoken publicly for the first time since his death – revealing the broadcaster’s friendship with Charlie Haughey.

Mano Ryan told how the radio legend, whose sudden death 10 years ago shocked the nation, and the former Taoiseach shared a love of the finer things in life.

In a documentary set to air on RTE tonight, he recalls how they encountered an “impeccably-dressed man” on a visit to the Haughey estate in Kinsealy.

Mano – real name Vincent – revealed: “He [Charlie] came over and said, ‘Who have we got here?’

“[He was told] ‘This is Mano and this is Gerry’.
