After closing down schools in the state, the Maharashtra government has now decided to shut down colleges and postpone exams. Schools and colleges across Maharashtra have been asked to shut down in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
CM Uddhav Thackeray chaired a review meeting at his official residence Varsha which was attended by Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta, Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray and other officials. “There is almost no country in the world that is not affected by the pandemic by now. There has been a pattern that has been noticed everywhere globally. This virus increases drastically after the third or fourth week. It's been one week since we registered the first case in the state and hence, next 15 to 20 days are going to be very crucial for the state,” Thackeray said.
The CM has also appealed religious heads to avoid gathering at places of worship.
The government has a taken a decision to stamp people undergoing home quarantine for suspected exposure with indelible ink on the left hand.
