Ex-President Aquino laid to rest
Former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III was laid to rest on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City, next to his parents, democracy icons former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon C. Aquino.

The urn bearing former President Aquino’s ashes arrived at Manila Memorial Park at past noon, accompanied by his sisters, brothers-in-law, nephews, and nieces, other relatives, political allies, and friends.

Before the funeral convoy entered the memorial park, the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) gave the former President a water salute.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Cirilo Sobejana and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar met the convoy a few meters away from Aquino’s final resting place.

The Philippine national anthem was played and the AFP gave the former President a 21-gun salute after a short Mass.

The Philippine flag was then placed on top of the urn of Aquino before it was transferred to a funeral carriage bedecked with yellow flowers.

During the funeral rites a chopper from the Philippine Air Force hovered over to drop flower petals.

Aquino’s youngest sister, Kris, did the honor of placing the urn inside the tomb.
