Atlanta Olympics silver med-alist Mansueto ‘Onyok’ Ve-lasco joined Tokyo Olympic medalists in paying a courtesy call on President Duterte at Malacañang Monday night.
The President recognized Velasco for his efforts with the national boxing team during the 1996 Games.
Apart from the recognition, Velasco was also awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu, Rank of Kamagi and a ₱500,000 cash incentive from the Office of the President.
“It is also fitting to recognize the achievement of our 1996 Olympic silver medalist Onyok Velasco,” Duterte said in his speech.
