Some of the brightest and best stars in Britain will be among their neighbours and they’ll be treated like royalty, despite having turned their backs on the Royal Family.
British billionaire Alki David, speaking from the private beach he shares with a host of stars in Malibu, and where the royal couple are reportedly home-hunting, said the strategy behind their move was very clever.
“What people don’t realise is that Malibu has quietly become ‘Little Britain’ and that the west coast is now the hotspot for Britain’s brightest and best,” says the Coca-Cola bottling heir.
“I can pop a few doors down to Sting for a pint of milk, Brit action hero Jason Statham is next door on the other side, Simon Cowell’s on the street behind, Chris Martin from Coldplay is around the corner, actor Gerard Butler has been here for years, my Malibu actor pal Jonathan Rhys Meyers... the list of creative Brit talent here is endless.
“The clever heavyweights move from London to Los Angeles. The people are relaxed, the attitude is different, the world’s biggest movie deals are done here, not in a boardroom but often over a glass of wine by the beach.
“Meghan has made a wise move and it will be great for her career, she will be around creative people who love her.”
Billionaire Mr David, 51, says that people underestimate the mega deals done there.
“The world has this false impression that Los Angeles is all about the sunshine and shopping,” he says. “The reality is that it outstrips Silicon Valley on tech deals, leads the world on entertainment deals of every kind, a place where world-changing ideas are bankrolled.
