Advice On Flavour Of Vape Helps Smokers To Quit - Study

A quarter had quit after three months and a further 13% reduced their cigarette consumption by more than half after receiving the advice, said the study, led by London South Bank University (LSBU), which explored in what settings vaping could help smokers give up their habit.

Research also showed that those given help to choose the flavour alongside supportive messages were 55% more likely to give up in three months than those who did not.

Lynne Dawkins, professor of nicotine and tobacco studies at LSBU, said: "Smoking kills approximately 8 million people worldwide every year and even some of the often most effective treatments have little effect on reducing the number of smokers. From this treatment, 24.5% were smoke-free after three months and a further 13% had reduced their cigarette consumption by more than 50%.
