Premier Division Adam Goodliffe played a key innings down the order for Cornwood to set the platform for victory against Bradninch.
Cornwood were not in great shape at 152 for seven with skipper Elliott Staddon just out for 21 and Matt Skeemer (22), Ben Beumont (30) and Jay Bista (37) long back in the pavilion.
Goodliffe (42no) and Noah Carlisle (30) put on 35 for the eighth wicket and Goodliffe was still there at the end in Cornwood's total of 215 for eight.
Bradninch were bowled out for 176 in reply - Matt Skeemer striking early - to give Cornwood victory by 38 runs. The margin of victory proved the value of batting all your overs.
Said Staddon: "A great effort from the middle and lower order, and a brilliant 40 from Adam Goodliffe at the end, were very important in the first innings allowing us to go from 30 for three to more than 200.
"Important early wickets from Matt Skeemer got us in the game and getting them from 73 for three to 92 for six allowed us to get good control."
Ross Acton, third out on 72 for 37, was the only one of Bradninch's top order to make much headway against Skeemer (2-52) or Bista (2-25).
