'Exemplary' behaviour sees school picked as £10m leader

A PLYMOUTH primary has such a good disciplinary record it has been chosen as a leader in the Government's £10m Behaviour Hub initiative and will now work with other schools to help them tackle pupil misconduct.

Marine Academy Primary, in St Budeaux, has been praised for its “exceptional behaviour culture".

The primary has been named as one of the country's 28 new Behaviour Hub Leads - schools where the children's behaviour is 'exemplary! It will now pass on tips on how to create a calm, orderly and safe environment to other schools where pupil exploits leave something to be desired.

Marine Academy Primary and another Ted Wragg Trust school, Exeter's St James School are among four in the South West awarded Behaviour Hub Lead status by the Department for Education.

Each Behaviour Hub works with a cohort of other schools, supporting them to develop good behaviour, routines, and structures, which in turn helps improve pupil engagement, mental health, and wellbeing.

The Behaviour Hubs programme provides senior leadership teams with the tailored support, training, and advice needed to improve pupil behaviour and "generate lasting cultural change"
