Galloway Aiming To Cement His Spot At African Cup Of Nations

Zimbabwe are one of 24 nations that will be taking part in the continental competition, which will be held in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6.

Galloway has been called up by Zimbabwe for their final two 2022 World Cup qualifiers which are being used as preparation for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Zimbabwe, who cannot qualify for the World Cup after picking up only one point from four games, are away to South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg today and will then host Ethiopia at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Galloway made his debut for Zimbabwe in a 1-0 home defeat by Ghana last month after previously playing for England at age-group levels.

His latest call-up by Zimbabwe means the defender, who has made 13 starts and two substitute appearances for Argyle this season, will miss the Pilgrims’ next two games.

They are the League One trip to Accrington Stanley as well as the FA Cup first round against Sheffield Wednesday at Home Park next Tuesday (7.45 pm).
