Plans for shopping centre are submitted

PLANS for a new shopping centre on the edge of Plymouth, which will include Marks & Spencer and Aldi, have been submitted.

ADC Kimberley (Derriford) Limited and Plymouth City Council have submitted their formal application for a new district centre at Derriford, on the site of the former Seaton Barracks Parade Ground.

Anchored by Marks & Spencer and Aldi, the development will also include a gym, a drive-thru coffee shop, as well as other retail and leisure units.

No tenants for the coffee shop have been confirmed, but Costa Coffee is referred to in the planning documents.

The major scheme aims to be a focal point, and a new commercial heart to the wider Derriford area and play a fundamental role in unlocking the connectivity of the surrounding area.

The M&S Foodhall will be double the size of the existing Simply Food store at its current premises next to Windsor House, while the Aldi will be the fourth in the city.
