Scott closing in on finish line for six-star efforts

A PLYMOUTH runner who has twice needed open heart surgery is coming close to his goal of running all six of the world marathon majors.

Scott Allen has raised thousands of pounds for charity while completing his mission to run the six most famous marathon races in the world.

The founder of two city running clubs will take on Boston Marathon in April in the hope of becoming a six-star finisher – the title given to any runner who completes the London, Berlin, New York, Tokyo, Chicago and Boston marathons. Only 672 runners from the UK have managed the feat, and Scott has faced a series of hurdles to reach his final start line.

He will be running for the Herren Project, a drug rehabilitation charity, and has raised thousands of pounds with the support of runners, friends and businesses. His fundraising got a step closer to its eye-watering $10,000 target following a a bubbles and blowdries event held at Yelverton-based Ochre hair which raised nearly £1,000 last weekend.
