AIADMK Tries To Get DMDK Into Alliance

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Thursday continued its efforts to rope in actor Vijayakant’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) as an ally for the Lok Sabha polls.

Sources in the ruling party said their offer of three Lok Sabha seats to the DMDK still stands and there was “no change” in this regard, but it was hopeful of succeeding in its attempt to win over the actor.

On Thursday evening, sections of the electronic media carried reports that the DMDK had been allotted five seats.

Originally, the task of bringing in the DMDK to the front, led by the AIADMK, was given to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). But even after Union Minister and BJP’s points man for Tamil Nadu, Piyush Goyal, called on the DMDK founder Vijayakant and other senior leaders of the party on Tuesday evening, the latter was not convinced of the offer made by the BJP.
