An all-round team effort sees the Delhi side beat the Rajasthan outfit with plenty to spare
Having already ensured a spot in the top-four, Delhi Capitals had set its sight on bigger targets, a top-two finish being one of them. On Saturday, the team took another step towards the same with a five-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals in its final league match chasing a low, below-par target of 116. The result also ended any outside hopes RR had of staying in the competition.
Rishabh Pant anchored the Delhi innings, for once seeing the game to its end and not throwing away his wicket in a hurry to finish off, remaining unbeaten on 53 off38 balls. Deservedly, he slammed the winning runs, a huge six off Ish Sodhi — who had earlier picked up two-in-two to give his team hope — into the midwicket stands to wrap up the proceedings.
It was, in fact, a complete effort from Delhi with different players stepping up in every department to ensure victory. Pant was also quick and impressive behind the stumps even as Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma kept the choke on Rajasthan’s scoring, ensuring the team did not miss the services of Kagiso Rabada.
