Hyderabad: Various political parties are furious over the release of ward wise draft electoral rolls by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) without giving scope for proper verification of electoral rolls and before identifying polling stations first.
Representatives of parties during a meeting raised several issues, especially on the ward wise draft rolls, saying that there were several discrepancies and mistakes.
“We have provided some voters lists where there is no house number, duplicate names of voters and inclusion of voters in sequence, even though they are from different areas and wards,” Congress senior leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy said. He said the State Election Commission (SEC) may direct GHMC staff to carry out verification and correct such mistakes on their own or make corrections by referring it to the Election Commission of India as the SEC cannot make any corrections on electoral Rolls on their own.
